Terms of service
The terms for creating, sharing, and playing on Boardweaver.
Last updated: October 14, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Boardweaver website, Studio, hosted games, multiplayer matches, events, APIs, and connected tools provided by Boardweaver, Inc. ("Boardweaver," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information. Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected].
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old and meet any higher minimum age required where you live. If you are not legally able to enter this agreement yourself, a parent or legal guardian must review these terms and permit your use. You must have authority to agree on behalf of any organization you represent.
Provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in credentials secure, and tell us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account, including collaborators and connected tools. Do not impersonate someone else or use another person's account without permission.
Some games and events allow guest play. Guest sessions can expire, and an expired guest session may not be recoverable. Guest access does not grant game-editing or account-level permissions.
2. The service and beta features
Boardweaver lets people create, host, discover, playtest, and play digital board games. Features depend on the game's framework, release status, access settings, your role, and any plan entitlements. We may review games before publishing them in the public catalog; creating a game or submitting it does not guarantee publication.
Some features are experimental or in beta. Games may contain bugs, inaccurate rules, incomplete content, or compatibility problems, and the service may be interrupted or changed. Keep your own copies of important source code, artwork, and other materials. Do not rely on Boardweaver as your only backup or as a service with guaranteed availability or permanent storage.
3. Your games and other content
You retain the rights you hold in the rules, artwork, sounds, source code, descriptions, feedback, and other materials you submit ("Your Content"). Uploading content does not transfer ownership of it to Boardweaver. You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit it and allow its intended use, including digital use of licensed artwork, music, and third-party game material.
You grant Boardweaver a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, process, run, technically adapt, display, and transmit Your Content as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and support the service and the sharing or publication you request. This includes using service providers for hosting, delivery, diagnostics, and the AI-assisted development or support described in our Privacy policy. Technical adaptation includes compiling game code and resizing or converting media. This license does not authorize selling Your Content as a standalone product or using it in unrelated advertising without your permission.
If you publish a game or share access, you authorize Boardweaver to show the game and its public-facing materials to the relevant visitors or participants, and allow them to play it through the service. Collaborators you authorize may be able to edit or delete content or change access. You are responsible for choosing suitable settings and obtaining permission for personal information you include.
Removing a game from public access or deleting it does not instantly erase version history, backups, multiplayer records, cached media, or copies already received by other people. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy policy. The license continues only as needed for retained copies, continuing uses you authorized, and legal obligations.
If we separately agree to implement or license a game for you, that agreement governs the materials and work it covers and controls over conflicting terms here. These terms do not change ownership promised under a separate written agreement.
4. Platform rights and other creators
Boardweaver and its licensors retain their rights in the platform, software, branding, and other materials they provide. Subject to these terms, you may access and use the service for its intended purposes. Open-source components remain subject to their own licenses.
A game being playable on Boardweaver does not give you ownership of its rules text, artwork, code, or other protected material. Do not copy, redistribute, commercialize, or port another person's material unless the rights holder or an applicable license permits it. Game creators are responsible for their games and submissions; we do not guarantee that user-created content is accurate, lawful, or appropriate for every audience.
5. Acceptable use
Use Boardweaver lawfully and respect other people. You must also follow our Content policy, and we may remove content that breaks it. Do not:
- Upload content you do not have permission to use, or violate intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, or target other users, or submit unlawful or sexually exploitative content.
- Distribute malware, steal credentials, probe or bypass access controls without authorization, or try to access another user's private games or information.
- Use game code, uploads, APIs, or connected tools to attack the service or another system, extract secrets, evade limits, or cause unreasonable load.
- Send spam, misuse invitations or contact forms, manipulate results fraudulently, or use the service for real-money gambling or other unlawful transactions.
- Sell access to the service, misrepresent an affiliation with Boardweaver, or use automation outside the permissions and limits we provide.
Report abuse, security concerns, or rights violations to [email protected]. For a content complaint, identify the material, provide a link or enough information to locate it, explain your concern and authority, and provide contact details so we can follow up.
6. AI assistants, automation, and external services
You choose whether to connect an AI assistant or another app. Authorizing a connection can allow it to access and change game data within your permissions. Review the access requested and the actions you authorize. AI output can be incorrect, and generated code, rules, or assets may require testing and rights review before use or publication.
You remain responsible for content and actions you authorize through a connected tool. You can review and revoke credentials in MCP Connections, and may also need to disconnect in the other provider's settings. Revocation does not undo completed edits or remove information the provider already received.
Third-party services, including Discord sign-in, AI providers, linked forms, and community sites, operate under their own terms. Your agreement with those providers is separate from these terms. Boardweaver does not guarantee their availability, output, or handling of information.
7. Pricing and paid work
The Pricing page describes our current offers and beta arrangements. Displaying a possible future price does not authorize a charge. If a paid plan or separately scoped service is offered, we will disclose its price and any billing, renewal, cancellation, or refund terms before you agree to purchase it. A separate written agreement or purchase terms govern paid implementation work.
You are responsible for any charges from third-party AI providers or other services you choose to use. Boardweaver's beta or free access does not make those third-party services free.
8. Moderation, suspension, and ending use
We may restrict access, refuse publication, remove content, or suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address a violation of these terms, a legal requirement, a security or safety issue, or material harm to the service or others. Where appropriate and practicable, we will explain the reason and give an opportunity to contact us; immediate action may be needed for urgent issues. You may contact us to ask about a decision.
You can stop using the service at any time. Contact us to request account closure or deletion; removing a game, signing out, or revoking a connector is not the same as deleting an account. Retention and deletion limitations are explained in the Privacy policy.
We may change or discontinue features or the service. Any rights you have under a separate paid agreement or mandatory consumer law remain in effect. Sections dealing with ownership, retained content, acceptable use, disclaimers, liability, and disputes continue to apply where their purpose requires it after access ends.
9. Disclaimers and limits of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the service and user-created games are provided "as is" and "as available," without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not promise a particular game result, audience, commercial outcome, or accuracy of a game's implementation.
To the extent permitted by law, Boardweaver is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits, arising from use of or inability to use the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit, including mandatory consumer protections. These terms do not limit remedies expressly provided in a separate written agreement.
10. Governing law and disputes
Delaware law governs these terms, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory law gives you protections that cannot be displaced. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a dispute directly. Nothing here requires mandatory arbitration, waives a right to participate in a class action, or prevents you from bringing a claim or contacting a regulator where applicable law permits.
11. Changes and general terms
We may update these terms by posting a revised version and changing the date above. Material changes will be communicated in advance where required by law. Changes apply prospectively, and we will obtain any additional agreement required by law. If you do not agree to revised terms, stop using the service.
These terms and any applicable separate written agreement make up our agreement about use of the service. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it as part of a business reorganization or transfer, subject to applicable law and privacy obligations.
