Content policy
What you can and cannot create or share on Boardweaver.
Last updated: October 14, 2026
This policy explains what you may and may not put on Boardweaver. It applies to everything people create or share through the service: games, rules, artwork, sounds, code, game pages, usernames, profiles, avatars, event names, feedback, invitations, and messages to other users. It applies to guests and signed-in users alike, and to content created with AI tools.
Boardweaver is open to people aged 13 and older, and published games appear in a public catalog. Write and draw with that audience in mind. This policy is part of our Terms of service. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
1. Sexual content and nudity
Do not post sexual content or nudity of any kind. This includes pornography, sexually explicit text or artwork, sexual acts shown or described in detail, and images made to be sexually suggestive.
- Not allowed: a strip poker game with nude card art, or a party game built around explicit sexual prompts.
- Allowed: a romance-themed game with a non-explicit story, or classical artwork used in a history game where nudity is incidental and not sexual. If you are unsure, leave it out.
2. Child safety
We have zero tolerance for content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers children. Do not post it, link to it, or use Boardweaver to contact a minor for sexual purposes or to groom them. We remove this content, close the accounts involved, preserve the evidence, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or other authorities where the law requires.
3. Hate, harassment, and threats
Treat other people with respect. Do not:
- Attack or demean people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, disease, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or veteran status. This includes slurs, hateful symbols, and games built to mock or dehumanize a group.
- Praise, promote, or recruit for violent extremist or hate groups.
- Harass, bully, or threaten anyone, or encourage others to do so.
- Share someone's private information without permission, such as a home address, phone number, private photos, or account details (doxxing).
A historical war game may show the flags and uniforms of its period. A game that celebrates a real genocide or asks players to target a real group of people is not allowed.
4. Violence and gore
Conflict is a normal part of board games. Battles, monsters, combat, horror, and crime stories are allowed. Graphic gore is not: do not post realistic images of mutilation, torture, or dead bodies, or detailed descriptions written to shock.
Games with mature themes, such as war, horror, or crime, should say so on their game page so players know what to expect. We may ask you to add a label, or limit where a game appears, before we publish it.
5. Self-harm
Do not promote, encourage, or give instructions for suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders. A game may touch on these subjects with care, for example in a story about recovery, but it must not present them as goals or rewards. If you or someone you know is in danger, contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
6. Illegal and dangerous activity
Do not use Boardweaver to sell, buy, or promote illegal goods or services, including drugs, weapons, stolen accounts, or counterfeit products. Do not post instructions for making weapons or explosives, or for committing serious crimes. A game about smugglers or heists is fine; a real shopping list or guide is not.
7. Real-money gambling
Boardweaver games must not involve real money or anything that can be exchanged for it. Do not take real-money bets, sell chances to win prizes, or link games to gambling sites. Games with dice, cards, betting chips, or in-game currency are allowed when nothing of real value can be won or lost.
8. Scams, spam, and malware
Do not:
- Trick people into giving money, passwords, or personal information, for example with fake giveaways, fake sign-in pages, or false offers.
- Send spam, mass invitations, repeated contact-form messages, or the same promotion over and over.
- Put malware, cryptocurrency miners, trackers, or code that attacks the service, players' browsers, or other systems into a game or upload.
- Manipulate ratings, results, or statistics with fake accounts or automation.
9. Impersonation
Do not pretend to be another person, a game publisher, a designer, or Boardweaver staff. Parody and fan tributes are fine when they are clearly labeled and do not mislead anyone about who made them.
10. Intellectual property
Only upload content you have the right to use. Many people build digital versions of games they love, but rules text, artwork, names, and logos often belong to someone else. Get permission from the rights holder, use material under a license that allows it, or create your own.
If you believe content on Boardweaver infringes your rights, follow the content complaint process in section 5 of our Terms of service.
11. How to report
If you see content or behavior that breaks this policy, email [email protected] or use our contact form. Include:
- A link to the game, profile, or page, or enough detail for us to find it.
- What the problem is and which part of this policy you think it breaks.
- How we can reach you if we need more information.
We review reports as quickly as we can and handle the most serious ones, such as child safety and credible threats, first. We do not tell the person you reported who you are, unless the law requires it. Intellectual property complaints are different: we may share them with the person whose content is affected so they can respond.
12. What we may do
When content or behavior breaks this policy, we may:
- Remove the content or ask you to change it.
- Restrict who can see or play a game, or remove it from the public catalog.
- Refuse to publish a game.
- Warn you, or limit features on your account.
- Suspend or close your account, and stop you from creating new ones.
- Report illegal content to law enforcement where the law requires or allows it.
We choose an action based on how serious the problem is, whether it was intentional, and whether it has happened before. Where it is appropriate and practical, we will tell you what we did and why. Section 8 of our Terms of service describes these decisions in more detail.
13. Appeals
If you think we made a mistake, email [email protected] within 6 months of our decision. Tell us which content or account is affected and why you think the decision was wrong. A person will review the decision again, and we will tell you the result. We may restore content or access if we got it wrong.
14. Changes
We may update this policy as the service and the law change. We will post the new version here and change the date above. Contact Boardweaver, Inc. at [email protected] or through our contact form.
